S D Julius Baker Flute Masterclasses, Danbury, features ten three-hour masterclasses plus ensemble classes led by Vanita Jones. The event will conclude with a concert. Yamaha prizes will be awarded to the top players in each session. All applications must include a $100 deposit (refunded only to students who are not accepted as performers); a brief resumé of playing experience; a 10-minute recording of three pieces or excerpts of contrasting styles. S Laurel Music Camp, New Hartford, is a one-week summer music camp in the Northwestern woods of Connecticut that features performance in jazz band, concert band, orchestra, and chorus. The camp accepts students who have completed 8th-12th grade and many college students as well. Students need to take a seating audition and have a recommendation from their respective high school or middle school director. Notable conductors are sought after for a unique ensemble experience. S Western Connecticut State University Summer Band and Jazz Camp and Summer String Camp, Danbury, are one-week residential camps for instrumentalists and string players in grades 5-12. Students audition and are placed in level-appropriate groups for the week. In addition to ensemble work, campers receive sectional coaching with masters who specialize in the instrument. S D Fourth Horn Ensemble Workshop, Daytona Beach, includes masterclasses, group lessons, ensembles, and performance in concerts at Daytona Beach College and around town. The workshop is open to all hornists. Ensembles are formed based on experience and individual abilities. S D Bowdoin International Music Festival, Brunswick, is a conservatory-level program for strings, piano, winds, guitar, harp, and composition. Participants range in age from 13-30. Our program offers solo and chamber study with renowned faculty, multiple performance opportunities in new world-class recital hall, and several premier concert series with guest and resident artists. It is the only music camp in N.Y. state located in a beautiful wooded setting where campers live in cabins, each with its own counselor. S D Chautauqua Music Festival, Chautauqua, includes schools of music, dance, theater, and art. S Crane Youth Music, Potsdam, is celebrating its 38th session this summer. The program continues a heritage of outstanding and cost-effective musical training for young musicians, ages 12-18. This is a teaching workshop for instrumental music educators and conductors of all levels, K-12 through university, at the University of Michigan.
